I've been keeping up with Kill la Kill lately--it's my latest guilty pleasure. And it wouldn't be nearly so guilty without the gratuitous amounts of blatant fan service, the likes of which haven't been seen since Panty & Stocking, though considering it's from a group of largely the same people I suppose it isn't to be wholly unexpected.

As a sucker for great animation, I got pulled into it after discovering it was done by a team that was founded by members of the group behind such titles as Gurren Lagann, Panty & Stocking, and FLCL. If there's one thing I appreciate in my anime, it's a sense of style (which the aforementioned have in spades), and Kill la Kill has as much of that as I'd expect--and no, I'm not even referring to the character design. Though I admit I was losing faith in the show's plot around the halfway point (despite the great ending to the first half), considering previous projects from Gainax that I've enjoyed (particularly FLCL, Evangelion, and Gurren Lagann), as KLK comes to the end it's definitely feeling more fulfilling, which is really nice. Though whether or not it's a show I'll miss when it's over remains to be seen. Until then, I'm waiting on news for a second season of P&S. Come on, guys.
